Search begins for new track racing stars as karting competition launched

Young aspiring racing stars are being offered the chance to take their first step into the world of motorsport thanks to the launch of a new talent finding competition.

Owner of Rochdale-based TeamKarting and X-Kart, Matty Street, has teamed up with Team HARD. Racing to offer a new scholarship programme to the most talented young karter.

Young people aged 12-15 are invited to enter the competition, which will see an eventual winner receiving a fully funded season in the 2023 Junior Kart Championship, including tyres, fuel and driver support; a prize fund worth £25,000.

To enter, applicants need to register, then show what they can do by clocking the fastest lap they can at TeamKarting indoor circuit. The fastest 50% of entrants will be invited to stage two which will be held on an outdoor kart track in the autumn.

The three entrants judged to be the most promising overall will all receive incredible prizes, with the winner receiving the fully funded season.

X-Kart owner Matty Street said; “We’re so excited to launch this talent finding competition and can’t wait to meet some of the newest racing talent in our country.

“This prize is incredible – to have a full year of support and funding in one of the top karting championships in the UK will be the perfect way to help a new karter into the world of racing.

“Partnering with Team HARD. Racing makes this even more amazing – the team has a great reputation in British motorsport and will be able to offer the highest quality advice, guidance and support through the scholarship on offer.

“I’d encourage anyone who is interested to get in touch, find out more and consider coming to show us what they can do at TeamKarting.”

Team HARD. Racing, Business Development Manager Claire Murdoch commented, “I’m really excited to be able to launch this new scholarship.

“We are relatively new to the karting world so it’s great to be able to lean on Matty and his team to get up to speed with it.

“We love helping people get on track and live their dreams and passions and this is just another step towards making Motorsport more inclusive for everyone.”

The HARD. X-Kart scholarship is now open and is available to anyone aged between 12-15. For more information, please visit the HARD. X-Kart page here HARD. X-Kart Scholarship 2023 | Team HARD Racing (team-hard.com).

Entrants are required to pay a £99 registration fee, followed by a £50 charge for each stage 1 session. Entrants can clock their lap times at TeamKarting any time before the 30th August.
